After parturition, nonlactating women typically experience ovulation at around 45 days postpartum. This period is known as the postpartum anovulatory phase, during which ovulation is suppressed due to hormonal changes associated with pregnancy and childbirth. The resumption of ovulation marks the return of fertility in nonlactating women.
In other words, this period is known as the postpartum anovulatory phase, during which ovulation is suppressed due to the high levels of prolactin produced while breastfeeding. Once breastfeeding decreases or stops, ovulation can resume.
