Peripheral quantitative computed tomography (pQCT) is a three-dimensional imaging technique that provides detailed information about bone density and structure at peripheral skeletal sites such as the forearm and lower leg. pQCT can be useful in assessing bone strength and fracture risk in specific regions of the body.

4) Biochemical Markers of Bone Turnover

Biochemical markers of bone turnover, such as serum levels of bone-specific alkaline phosphatase and C-terminal telopeptide of type I collagen, can provide indirect information about bone metabolism. While these markers are not used as standalone diagnostic tools for osteoporosis, they can complement other diagnostic tests and provide insight into the rate of bone turnover.

5) Imaging Techniques

In addition to DXA, other imaging techniques such as quantitative computed tomography (QCT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) may be used to assess bone density and structure in individuals with suspected osteoporosis.
